Rude parental behaviour Vs quality of medical care of babies: Implications of a study
A new study in Israel, done in a simulated conditions, has suggested that the rude behaviour of worrisome parents in the hospital ward treating critically sick infants adversely affects the medical care being given by the hospital staff, a recent report in the Times of India said this.

However, the study outcomes have serious implications for all the areas of social sector services, may it be medical services, educational services, NGO work, public dealing services, etc., rudeness vitiates the whole working environment leading to non-existence of pre-condition for quality of services, said Prabha Kishore, a Jaipur-based educator who had been articulate on the research studies in social and allied sciences.

The study also has implications for the social sector educational and care-giving institutions that they must deliberately establish good relationships with beneficiaries and run participatory induction courses in which both service providers and beneficiaries get training to change their attitudes and maximise the benefits of the services, I feel.

A congenial psycho-social environment of an institution is a precondition for delivery of quality services, more so in education and health sectors. Currently, in the quality of education in the government sector is facing an acute crisis due to vitiated psycho-social environment in which rudeness and intolerance has become too apparent.

And, it needs to be corrected. This is also the implication of the study. Are students, teachers and ideologues and politicians listening!
